British royal family: Prince Harry: Windsor is a "lonely place" without the Queen

The pictures caused a stir at the weekend: The quarreling Queen's grandchildren William and Harry together with their wives in front of Windsor Castle. A video of the performance has now become public, giving a little insight into the feelings of the royals after the Queen's death.

"It's a lonely place up there now without her," Harry said in the clip published by Britain's The Sun on Sunday. "No matter what room she was in, you felt her presence everywhere," he added.

The brothers strolled down the driveway to Windsor Castle on Saturday and shook hands at length. At her side her wives Kate and Meghan.

Harry pays tribute to Queen as 'Compass'

In a statement published on his Archewell Foundation website, Prince Harry praised his late grandmother Elizabeth II as a "compass" and a role model for service and duty. "She was admired and respected around the world. Her unwavering grace and dignity lingered throughout her life and is now her enduring legacy."

The 37-year-old pledged his support to his father, the new King Charles III. The relationship between Harry and his father and his brother Prince William is considered to be heavily burdened. Harry's announcement of honoring Charles in his new role could mean a peace gesture.

Memory of Granny

The final farewell makes him sad, Harry wrote directly to his "Granny" (grandma). At the same time he is grateful for their encounters - "from my earliest childhood memories with you to the first meeting with you as my supreme commander to the first moment when you met my wonderful wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren." Harry emphasized, "I cherish these times that I've shared with you and all the other special moments in between."

The Duke of Sussex, as his official title reads, ended his message: "Thank you for your dedication to the service. Thank you for your sound advice. Thank you for your infectious smile. We smile too, knowing that you and Grandpa are now reunited in peace." Queen's husband Prince Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99.
