The British band Coldplay have entered the music annals of Argentina with an unprecedented concert marathon in Buenos Aires.

The group around singer Chris Martin completed their tenth and last performance in a row in the football stadium "El Monumental" - more than any other band before. The record was previously held by Roger Waters, who performed there nine times in a row in 2012. In total, Coldplay sold over 550,000 tickets for the shows between October 25th and November 8th.

"We always like it here in Argentina, but this time it was on another level," said Martin in a television interview shortly before the last concert. "We show how great the audience is. We are like a mirror." At a concert, Coldplay performed their hit "De Música Ligera" with former members of the legendary Argentine band Soda Stereo. "To be honest, this is the best song on our show," Martin said in an interview. "It's not ours, but it teaches you a lesson in humility."

Coldplay also brought a number of other guest artists to the stage at the concerts in the stadium of the traditional club River Plate, including former Disney star Tini Stoessel. Out of solidarity with the system-critical demonstrations in Iran, the band sang the protest song "Baraye" (For) one evening. The song is considered the unofficial anthem of the protests in Iran that have been going on since the end of September.

Before the concert marathon in Buenos Aires, Coldplay had to cancel a number of concerts in Brazil because of singer Martin's lung infection. The shows of the tour for the album "Music of the Spheres" will now be rescheduled from March next year.
