Boris Johnson: Earned over a million euros with speeches

Boris Johnson, 58, cashed in well between October and November, according to the UK MPs' Perks Register.

The former British Prime Minister has earned over £1m, or around €1.2m, with just four speeches. More specifically, Johnson has received over £277,000 (€321,000) for a speech for investment bank Centerview Partners. His work amounted to 8.5 hours, which results in an hourly rate of around 37,000 euros. Travel expenses for him and two companions were also covered by the company.

In addition, Johnson spoke for the Hindustan Times, which was remunerated with almost 262,000 pounds (304,000 euros). And Portuguese broadcaster Televisao Independente paid him over £215,000 (250,000) for a speech in November, the BBC reveals.

Johnson remains a Conservative MP despite resigning in September, which means he has to regularly make his perks public.
