The two lights hanging in the "Bares for Rares" studio are just what Detlev Kümmel likes: "I like them," enthuses the man from Lüdenscheid. Jürgen Ihle brought them with him. The painter and floor layer from Leipzig would like to sell them on behalf of a customer.
But first of all, the expert has the floor: "These are pieces that only fit a certain design." You have to have a bit of an affinity for the 60s and 70s, says Kümmel. The lights would also be called dandelion or Sputnik lamp. The basic concept came from the product designer Emil Stejnar and was designed back in the 1950s. The copies presented here were probably made in the late 1960s or early 1970s in the GDR.
Then it's about the money: Ihle could imagine around 600 euros per chandelier. Horst Lichter thinks this sum is far too high. "I think that if they were originals, it would even be possible," intervenes the moderator, who is smart enough to follow up with a half-sentence: "without having a clue."
The expert has the last word, and Detlev Kümmel agrees with the seller: 500 to 600 euros per chandelier is possible. The total value of the two lights is therefore 1000 to 1200 euros. Horst Lichter can hardly believe that: "Now without nonsense?" He asks incredulously. "I would have thought it would be a hundred per lamp at the flea market," says Lichter. "You can make a mistake like that."
However, the dealers are more on the side of Horst Lichter when it comes to their evaluation of the candlesticks. Wolfgang Pauritsch starts with 150 euros. Jos van Katwijk raises to 200 euros. Jürgen Ihle prefers to ask again: "For one?" But no, the bids are for both lights together. This means that the seller is still a long way from his desired and estimated price.
The end of the road has already been reached at 300 euros, which is why Ihle now refers to the expertise. This brings some movement into the dealer room. In the end, the lamps change hands for 500 euros.
Not quite the amount that the seller had imagined - but in the end significantly more than Horst Lichter would have thought possible.
