As a rule, "Bares for Rares" revolves around the objects that are offered for auction. But every now and then the salespeople come to the fore when it comes to particularly dazzling personalities. That was the case on Thursday.
When Horst Lichter sees his unusual guest, he reacts very excitedly. "Back there I see a particularly attractive lady coming towards us," exclaims the moderator and can hardly hide his enthusiasm: "My dear Kokoschinski!"
Enter the Frankfurt travesty artist Trude Trash, who introduces herself on her own homepage as a "sexy men's fright with endlessly long legs". After a brief discussion about the dress, however, the focus is on the works of art that were brought along.
These are seven limited edition graphics created by Leslie G. Hunt in 1988 and 1990. The artist was a regular in her bistro in the early 1990s and left her the drawings, says Trash.
Expert Friederike Werner provides some more information about the Texan, who later emigrated to Germany. She estimates the value of the bundle at a total of 700 euros – good news for trash: she would have been satisfied with 300 euros.
Now she has tasted blood: "I hope that I will amaze you with my presence so that one or the other will spit away," says Trash before the auction begins. "I've got Gitti and Erika with me," she says, looking at her décolleté, "those are my most compelling arguments. Hopefully the cash register will ring then."
The calculation seems to work: When she shows herself to the dealers, a murmur goes through the room: "Wow, that's an appearance!" Christian Vechtel starts with 100 euros. Although several dealers are bidding, the price doesn't really go up.
It wasn't until Fabian Kahl praised the shop assistant's dress that things got going: "I urgently need a new one," says Trash, "you'll have to dig a little deeper into your pockets so that I can afford it." The words do not go unheeded: in the end, Elke Velten-Tönnies gets the bid for 600 euros.
Afterwards, Trude Trash is happy with the deal: "There are a few small bills, but I'm used to that," says the drag artist.
