Oops - what happened to Horst Lichter? That's what many viewers may have thought who turned on "Bares for Rares" on Friday. And that doesn't mean the facial hair that has mutated into a full beard, which the passionate mustache wearer suddenly wore on his face. You didn't see them at first: the moderator seemed so tiny between the expert Detlev Kümmel and the studio guest Babette von Kienlin.

Getting started wasn't the only special thing about this edition of the junk show. In fact, it was an anniversary program on the occasion of ZDF's 60th birthday. On April 1, 1963, the second began broadcasting.

Horst Lichter and guests celebrated this properly. Only ZDF employees were invited - in front of or behind the camera. The only objects related to the station auctioned - for a good cause.

The presenter Babette von Kienlin, known from the "Knoff Hoff Show", made the start and brought special chairs with her. They are suitable for producing optical illusions - an explanation for Horst Lichter's strange shrinking. These chairs were worth 600 euros to Julian Schmitz-Avila.

The moderator duo Florian Weiß and Sabine Heinrich had a Steiff doll of the Mainzelmännchen "Det" with them. Thorsden Schlößner was worth 800 euros for the figure.

The largest sum was brought by a liqueur that Udo Lindenberg drew for the longtime "People Today" presenter Nina Ruge. Expert Colmar Schulte-Goltz estimated the value at 1200 to 1500 euros.

But it was much more: The picture from 1997 triggered a veritable bidding war, in the end Walter "Waldi" Lehnertz put 3200 euros on the table for it.

After the show, Horst Lichter, now back in normal size, was very happy: "It was wonderful, it's a shame it's over," said the moderator, who sent a heart to the dealers, the experts, ZDF and the thanked viewers.
