Canadian singer Avril Lavigne (38) was disturbed on stage at Canada's Juno Awards in Edmonton last Monday. A demonstrator entered the stage topless, on her back was the message "Save the green belt" (in German: "Protect the green belt") to read. According to the New York Post, this is apparently a reference to a controversial development plan by the Ontario government.

According to the report, Lavigne was about to announce singer AP Dhillon, 30, when the protester appeared wearing pink trousers and a headscarf. At first, the musician tried to ignore the protester, but then turned around and told her, laughing but in clear words ("Get the f-k off, bitch"), that she should leave the stage. The demonstrator was then led down the stairs by a security guard. It is not known whether the action had further consequences for her.

Lavigne also had a happier event that night: she was presented with the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award. "Thanks to my amazing fans who voted for me," the musician wrote on Twitter. "This is my tenth Juno Award and my fourth Fan Choice Award. Cheers to the next 20 years!" As a small allusion to the protest campaign, she packed a P.S. again the words she had spoken to the demonstrator. After the show, she was also asked about her most memorable moments from 20 years of awards, according to the New York Post, and Lavigne replied, "It will definitely go down in history as one of the highlights."
