Alfons Schuhbeck: Three years and two months in prison for star chef

The judgment in the tax evasion process involving Alfons Schuhbeck (73) has fallen. The star chef has to go to prison for three years and two months without parole, as the Munich I district court has now ruled, according to "Spiegel". The public prosecutor had asked for a prison sentence of more than four years without parole, his defense hoped for a suspended sentence. Schuhbeck had previously made several partial confessions in court.

The star chef was charged with 25 cases of tax evasion and attempted tax evasion, as the Munich Regional Court announced on August 22. Due to the rumored amount of tax evasion of more than two million euros, a prison sentence was in the room. For the so-called "ginger" trial - named after one of the cook's favorite ingredients - the court had scheduled 18 main hearing dates.
