Pompeo, who has portrayed Meredith Gray on the show since episode one, will only appear in two upcoming episodes of Season 19. On the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards, however, "Grey's Anatomy" veteran Chandra Wilson (plays Dr. Miranda Bailey, 53) revealed something new about Pompeo's future on the ABC series. "Meredith is still a part of every episode," Wilson explained, according to People.

Accordingly, Pompeo will continue to accompany "every episode as an off-screen narrator," according to Wilson. However, the actress will only appear in the episode "I'll Follow the Sun", which will air in the US on ABC on February 23, 2023, and in the season 19 finale. The confirmed leading lady Pompeo on the red carpet of the People's Choice Awards. "After the winter break I'm in another episode [...] and then actually the finale," says the series star.

According to actress Wilson, the plan for the future of Grey's Anatomy is for Meredith to be in Boston, "but you know things never go as planned on Grey's Anatomy." As such, Pompeo will "come and go" over the remainder of Season 19, Wilson added.
