Prince William (40) gives consolation to the English national team. France defeated the Three Lions 2-1 at the World Cup in Qatar. Harry Kane (29) had the chance to equalize with a penalty shortly before the end, but didn't score. The Prince of Wales addressed team captain Kane and manager Gareth Southgate, 52, after the defeat.

William wrote on Twitter that he was suffering with "Gareth, Harry and the entire England team". The British heir to the throne added: "You guys have put so much into this tournament and we are all so proud of you. Cheer up and let's move on to the next one! W."

At the end of November, William and his wife Kate (40) also commented on Wales' World Cup exit with an encouraging post on social media.
