Kate Winslet has won almost every award in her career that an actress can win: the Oscar, the Golden Globe, the BAFTA Award, the Emmy and even the Grammy Music Awards.

But as she revealed in an interview with the "Sunday Times", she struggled with body shaming at the beginning of her career: "When I was younger, my agent would get calls asking, 'What's her weight?' That's no joke."

The 47-year-old recalls being told she should only be cast in 'fat girl' roles. "It can have an extremely negative effect. You're subjected to more scrutiny than a young, vulnerable person can handle," the English Daily Mail quoted as saying.

But Winslet also sees a ray of hope: "Something is really changing in the film industry. That's reassuring." Today there is a greater sensitivity to issues such as body shaming. But the social media are much more present. Winslet says she sees from her daughter Mia Honey how upsetting it can be at times, according to online portal Deadline.

"It used to be hard enough to look at the newspaper sometimes, but that's not enough anymore," says Winslet. "The phrase 'today's news is tomorrow's fish newspaper' no longer exists." Things you've done drunk or naively "can come back to haunt you. Young actors have to be on their guard, that's something else entirely. That must be extraordinarily difficult."

Winslet will soon be the subject of more television reviews: This year she worked again with "Titanic" director James Cameron. Her new film "Avatar 2: The Way Of Water" is scheduled for release on December 14, 2022.
