Jeremy Renner (51) is in the hospital after an accident. The actor's condition is "critical but stable," the US industry portal "Deadline" quoted a spokesman for the Hollywood star as saying. Renner suffered the injuries while snow plowing as a result of "a weather-related accident".

According to "Deadline", Renner was flown to the hospital on Sunday. His spokesman said his family is with him now and he is being "excellently taken care of". It is not known where the accident took place. According to US media reports, the actor has a home in the Reno area, said to be a ranch above Lake Tahoe. There is said to have been a winter storm in the region on New Year's Eve.

Jeremy Renner has been nominated twice for an Oscar, for his roles in The Hurt Locker (2008) and The Town (2010).
