Why the YouTube channel of Dieudonné has been closed - The Point

His fans are crying out for censorship. But the anti-racist associations who denounce regularly in his videos, often anti-semitic, rejoice. Monday, 29 June, in the evening, the YouTube channel of the polemicist Dieudonné Me bala Me bala has been closed. And his speeches to be filmed, were found deleted from the world wide web.

The closure comes a few hours after the other accounts of eminent persons, charged in the United States, the spread of the discourse of racial hatred. Several white-supremacist, in which Richard Spencer, and David Duke (member of the Klu Klux Klan), have seen their videos disappear.

The management of the Internet platform that the u.s. belongs to the group Google has released a statement to explain his gesture : "After you have updated our regulations to better address the issue of content-supremacist, we have seen a fivefold increase in the number of videos removed and we have put an end to more than 25 000 channels for violation of our rules on hate speech," says the group in a press release.

The French antenna of YouTube has, for its part, is not yet justified this closure. But Noémie Madar, president of the Union of jewish students of France (UEJF), which had been, on several occasions, taking part in by Dieudonne, recalls that the former comedian multiplied, for several months, speaking out openly hateful. Several of them had been the subject of legal proceedings by his association like SOS Racism, or the international League against racism and anti-semitism (Licra).

" The last videos of Dieudonné, published at the time of the confinement, betray the obsession with anti-jewish of their author. The former stand-up comedian it multiplies the commonplaces of anti-semitism, accusing the "israelites" of a threat to peace in the world, but also to promote hatred against non-jews and against France, "observes the young woman, who alerted the authorities on several occasions against those contents which," under the pretext of humour [...], promote an ideology of hatred to an audience particularly large (438 000 subscribers and videos that have been viewed up to 2.5 million times) ".

YouTube is not the only one to react against this scourge. The sites Reddit and Twitch have also conducted numerous closures of accounts xenophobic. These groups now intend to block the road to " video claiming that a group (is) superior in order to justify discrimination, segregation, or exclusion, based on attributes such as age, gender, ethnicity, caste, religion, sexual orientation... " .
