Myanmar beat in 2017 down hard on the rohingya, who are mainly muslims. They live mainly in Myanmar, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

A UN mission has previously concluded that the "most serious crimes under international law" have been committed in Myanmar.

No court has however held that there has been genocide.
