Jürgen Holtz was on 10. August, born in 1932 in Berlin. At the beginning of the 1950-ies he studied in Leipzig and Weimar spectacle. Subsequently, he was employed in various East German theaters, including the Berliner Ensemble, and for the DEFA. In the 1980's Holtz left East Germany and continued his career in West Germany.

Later he acted in films such as the GDR-Comedy "Good Bye, Lenin!" (2003) directed by Wolfgang Becker as well as in the portrait film "Rosa Luxemburg" (1986) directed by Margarethe von Trotta with. He was known also for his portrayal of "Motzki" in the eponymous TV series, which was broadcast from 1993.
