On may 23, 1920, to 21: 20, the president of the Republic Paul Deschanel boarded the train presidential to the gare de Lyon train station to travel to Montbrison. He is expected to attend the inauguration of a monument. Towards 21: 45, he left the lounge car for the tiny room placed at his disposal. Despite the sweltering heat, he asked his valet to leave the two sash windows closed. It feels, in effect, seized. He swallows a pill to sleep, and then gives the instruction to wait 7 hours in the morning to wake him up.
