Endagsløb in the spring, classification and stage victories in two different grand tours, the OLYMPICS and the WORLD cup.

It is just a selection of the objectives, as one of Denmark's largest cykelstjerner have for the year 2020.

the 2019 season, has been dazzling for Jakob Fuglsang, who are now a season in the meeting, where the OLYMPICS are the big goal. But there are no limits to the 34-year-old rider's appetite.

"In my preparation, the goal will be to be ready for the Ardennes classics (in the last half of april, ed.) and then try to take the shape with the on to the Giro d'italia," says Jakob Fuglsang to the B. T.

In 2019 had Jakob Fuglsang a great spring, where he among other things was the number three, two and one, respectively, the Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallone and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Therefore, he would like the back to run the races there, he explains.

But it has been hard for him to pick out.

"I have wanted to hear what the team has to say," explains Jakob Fuglsang.

"I will, of course, like it all. I would like to run Paris-Nice, but I would also like to run the Strade Bianche (where he was number two in 2019, ed.). I would also like to run the Tirreno-Adriatico (where he won a stage in 2019, ed.). It all can just not doable. I would also like to run the Ardennes classics again, but I would also like to be the captain in Tour and run the OLYMPICS afterwards."

According to Jakob Fuglsang is the plan he's running nyklassikeren Strade Bianche in early march, before he must return to the Ardennes, where he would like to run both the Amstel Gold Race and Flèche Wallone, which he by his own admission, "crave the most after, because he "suddenly has found the key to success".

Well yes, and then, of course, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, where he is the reigning champion.

"Who shall I start with rygnummer 1, so it becomes almost not harder," he says and laughs.

"But I will incredibly like to try to defend my title there."

In may, it is so planned that the Astana rider must run victory in the Giro d'italia. It wont he to do in the Tour de France, but because of the OLYMPICS in Japan shortly after the Tour it makes no sense for Fuglsang to use all of his gunpowder to run after the best possible classification in the Tour de France.

"There is much talk about whether or not I can still run them, and whether or not it is better that I bet on stages and endagsløb. I do not think that one excludes the other, and so, I believe I have what it takes to run the classification in a grand tour," says Jakob Fuglsang.

The past several years, dane's focus has been the Tour de France, but in 2020 it becomes different. Here is the plan, he must help the Miguel Angel Lopez and run after stage victories, which will slide less on him than to run them.

On the way he can run themselves into shape for the OLYMPICS, and actually came to her point of view with a surprising announcement, since B. T. rang him up.

"It does not at all hurt in the heart to drop the Tour standings. I think, on the contrary, I'm almost glad that I won't be up against the Tour again, now it's gone less well the last few years," he admits.

Jacob Fuglsang gets busy. With both the OLYMPICS and the WORLD cup routes, there is immediately a good fit for the team, it becomes an art to lay the right race program did.

"It is a special season because of the OLYMPICS, but also a VM, which is for people who are able to run upwards."

Jacob Fuglsang extended his contract with Astana in august. The dane now has a contract with the Kazakh crew to and including 2021.
