DHF-the boss nervous skæbnebrag: 'It will be bitter'

Morten Henriksen know it's good.

If Denmark loses to Serbia, will be the tale of the national team, not the one they want. Either on the team or in the associated.

"Many others envy, where we are, for we do it very well indeed. But with the history and the culture around håndbolden in Denmark we would all like, that we take the last nyk and becomes a larger component of the absolute best. In this work, we can easily see now that there on the pitch has been very much. There are actually also happened very much outside of the track," says sportschefen in the Danish Handball Federation.

It is the tale, he would like to share. And so will the team. That there has been a development, and that it is clear.

But lose Denmark to Serbia, does it mean a location outside of the top-8. It also means that the national team not going to the OLYMPICS in 2020.

"If it's not going to an OLYMPICS-qualification, I know well what the story will be. It is not a criticism of the people or you (journalists, ed.), but then the story the on a disappointing result and not on the good performance. And it would make it harder in the period, looking forward," says Morten Henriksen.

He was looking forward to a year after the new year, which offers several big events for Danish handball. Among other things there is the european championship on home ground in december, where he predicts Denmark fine chances.

"perhaps There is a slightly greater probability that there are medals in sight. It would be a small step down, as during the OLYMPICS - or even during qualifying - maybe not focus on the Danish western christianity and most," says Morten Henriksen.

you Can understand, if it fails, that one begins to speculate in, that one thing is that In says, In have moved you - but has it been enough?

"Both. It is the premise of the sport. The results. It is that which fills everything," says Morten Henriksen, who can see a big difference from EM last year.

"Conversely, I am sure that everyone who has a little bit of insight into handball and journalism, can see that the girls conduct themselves different inside on the track and they went on to say that also different outside of the track. The step that is done from France and now, is quite wild. But I also know that it will be a defeat tomorrow against Serbia, ed.), it becomes an excuse when I explain it to you. I don't want to," says sportschefen.

Denmark has at this year's WORLD cup turned verdensmestrene from France, just as it has been for a victory over the Netherlands. Klavs Bruun Jørgensen's crew was close to Norway, but threw the victory away. There have been several major results, but Denmark with a defeat to Serbia yet end up as the big loser, travelling home empty handed.

"That's exactly it. It is difficult when it is the results that count, to stand and say: ‘God, where were we close.’ We could have been in the semi-final. We are so close. It will be bitter. I would think it was so sorry for the girls and the leaders, who really have worked hard and moved on the parameters," says Morten Henriksen.

What about in relation to Klavs Bruun: It failed the last time with the OLYMPICS, there must surely also be a rematch now?

"I can't give my opinion on what Klavs think, other than that I know that he works crazy ærgerrigt for it, and I can see, he has moved the team on many of the parameters, we jointly have agreed on. I am sure that he, the players and all of us who have worked very hard with the inside of the associated, really hope," says Morten Henriksen.

He is with the national team in Japan and come to see it was against Serbia on the sidelines. He predicts an exciting showdown and expect to be quite nervous to follow along with.

Sportschefen has great expectations for the Danish national team, which is yet again faced with a bang-or-fall-battle of the year finals.

"That is not something you as an athlete rather than to represent his country at the OLYMPICS. It is just a big experience," says Morten Henriksen.

the Match between Denmark and Serbia starts Wednesday at 10.00, and you can follow it LIVE here on bt.dk. Before then, you can also follow the match between Netherlands and south Korea, which is important for Denmark.

Throw the Dutch points, Denmark with a victory over Serbia to secure OLYMPIC qualification, since in that case they must play the match on 5. or 6. square.
