White House: About 900,000 kids got virus shots in 1st week

WASHINGTON , 900,000 children aged 5-11 years old will have received their COVID-19 vaccine within the first week of eligibility. The White House announced Wednesday that this is the first glimpse of the school-aged vaccination campaign.

Federal regulators granted final clearance for shots on November 2. Some locations received their first doses the next day. Nearly 20,000 pharmacies, clinics, and doctors' offices now administer the doses. The Biden administration estimates that more than 900,000.000 doses have been given to children by Wednesday. In the next few days, 700,000.00 first-shot appointments will also be scheduled.

Around 28 million children aged 5-11 years old are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine. This dose is a third of what's given to teenagers and adults.

Children who start the two-dose regimen before the end of next Week will be fully protected from vaccines by Christmas.

To make it easier for children to get shots, the administration encourages schools to have vaccine clinics at their schools. To combat misinformation about vaccines, the White House has asked schools to share information from trusted messengers like doctors and public officials.
