Infection via aerosols, the researchers find for the first time, intact Coronavirus in the air

US researchers have confirmed in experiments that Corona-Infected outcasts aerosols can contain intact virus particles.

This is a confirmation that Sars-CoV-2 can probably also be transmitted via the tiny, long in the air, remaining suspended particles. to true

In rooms one and a half or two meters of safety distance, and could therefore give a false sense of security, says the study.

This, however, is not yet published in a professional journal and therefore not yet independent, peer-reviewed.

What is the share of aerosols in the Corona Transfer?

That Sars-CoV-2 can be transmitted not only via larger droplets but also tiny airborne particles, is more than secured.

it is Unclear, however, how large is the proportion of the aerosols in the infections is. Generally speaking, the risk in the interior we apply as significantly higher than outside, where particles evaporate more quickly.

The researchers, John Lednicky, from the University of Florida in Gainesville studied samples of the room air from the environment of two Covid-19-patients in a clinic room.

Even from samples that had been taken in almost five meters distance to the patient, have been active Sars-CoV-2 particles isolated, the researchers report. Through genetic analyses was confirmed that these were from the patients with Covid-19-respiratory symptoms in space and not from another area of the clinic were registered.

The analysis says nothing about whether the viral load is sufficient in the air, in order for more people to infect. Super-spreader events about the choir samples indicate, however, already for a long time that virus particles in aerosols can have the infection for many people within the consequence.
