The "Treat You Better” singer used Saturday's 2022 iHeartRadio Wango Tango Festival to voice his opposition to gun violence in the United States.
Mendes stated, "We are wearing orange to raise awareness to stop gun violence in America," before stopping mid-performance and urging the audience to view his Instagram post about his partnership with Everytown.

Everytown, according to its website, is "a movement made up of more than 8,000,000 moms, mayors and survivors, students, as well as everyday Americans who work to end gun violence."
The Canadian singer shared a post with an orange background, encouraging his followers to text "BOLD" (or 644-33) to their senators.
He wrote, "Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day," in Friday's caption. "Tomorrow, @iheartradio Wango Tango will host me, and I'll also be performing in Orange. If you're coming or you're tuning in, join me & #WearOrange ."
A gunman shot and killed 19 students at Robb Elementary School, Uvalde, Texas, last month. Two weeks earlier, a white supremacist allegedly attacked a Buffalo grocery store and killed 10 Black people.
Numerous other shootings have also occurred in the United States recently, including at a California church, a Georgia graduation party, and a Tulsa, Oklahoma hospital.
