Lizzo says Liam Payne wasn't One Direction's "Frontman" on TikTok: "Who Lied To That Poor Boy?"

Payne said recently on Impaulsive that Simon [Cowell] promised to me a part of the reason One Direction was formed.

Lizzo has some words of wisdom for Liam Payne.

The "About Damn Time” singer shared her thoughts on a variety of pop culture topics in a TikTok she posted this weekend. She questioned everything from whether she'd watch Stranger Things Season 4 or if someone was throwing cake at the Mona Lisa.

The clip features Lizzo, 34 years old, responding to Payne's claim that Simon Cowell created One Direction while he was at the forefront of their time on The X Factor.

Payne, 28 years old, stated that Simon's promise to him was a part of One Direction's success. Lizzo responded to Payne's comments on TikTok by saying, "I don’t know who lied, poor boy, but that he wasn’t the frontman."

According to a Rolling Stone interview, Cowell, 62 -- which was conducted 2012 for a planned One Direction story but was not published until 2020 -- Payne auditioned for The X Factor once prior to being chosen and was given early support by the creator.

"Well, I had auditioned him on The X Factor when he was 14 years old, and he didn’t make it. He didn't get much support from other judges, but I always supported him," Cowell explained to the outlet. "And then he didn’t quite make it because, he was too young for the first time."
