In 18 years, a lot has happened between Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck.
The cover of Rolling Stone's March 2022 issue features the singer/actress reflecting on the intense media scrutiny they faced in the beginning years of their relationship.
The 52-year old explained that it was funny because Ben (my partner) and I were together and were so in love. It was one of my happiest moments in my life. However, we also had this other thing that happened where we were being criticised, which really damaged our relationship from within, since we were too young to know what was really important in life.
One outlet pointed out how the media mocked her Latin heritage. After her 2002 romantic comedy, "Maid in Manhattan," one outlet said that Ben Affleck "sleeps with the help." Conan O'Brien stated that although "South Park" called her "mean-spirited, b---h," he'd cast him as "our script intern" and "our cleaning woman" Lopez in a sketch.
Lopez said, "It was horrific." Lopez said, "It was one of those things you bury deeply so that you can move on with your business."
The star of "Hustlers", 52, and the director of "Argo", 49, had been engaged for approximately two years. They split in 2004 and Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005. Affleck and Garner, who had three children together, split in 2004.
Lopez has two children with Marc Anthony, her ex-husband. Lopez and Marc Anthony, 53, were married between 2004 and 2014.
Affleck and Affleck enjoyed their last summer together on several European vacations. The couple walked together on the red carpet as a rekindled couple at the Venice International Film Festival in September for "The Last Duel"'s premiere.
Lopez said that she has "become more spiritual" because of her parent. Lopez prays often and repeats positive affirmations throughout her day. She also has been to therapy.
Lopez said, "I try to live every day from a place where I am grateful." Today, however, my first thought, especially if you asked me, was "Thank you." God, thank you for this day. "Thank you, God, for this day.
Lopez said, "I'm really content, probably more than any time I've ever been in my entire life," Lopez agreed.
The couple believes that their past has taught them valuable lessons about how to navigate their relationship. Lopez said that having "a second chance to love is nice" and added, "We know what's true, what's false... The game has changed."
Lopez also said that she does not see Affleck breaking up with Lopez in the future.
Lopez stated that Lopez doesn't believe we would have gotten back together if it wasn't for the direction it was heading. "We feel that what we found again was so much more important and how we protect it and live our lives -- sharing what and not -- is the balance we have now, the benefit from experience and the wisdom we've gained over the years."
