Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong claims his classic car was taken in Costa Mesa

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has asked his fans for their help.

The 49-year old musician posted on Twitter Saturday morning, revealing that his 1962 Chevy 2 was stolen in Costa Mesa (California).

He wrote, "My car was STOLEN 1962 Chevy II," along with several photos of the lost classic. "This car is dear and very special to us all and has been with the GD family since over 30 years. Any sightings, tips, or information you have can be sent to the Costa Mesa Police.

He concluded, "Please re-post and find this car!"

The message had been shared more than 1,500 times, and had received 3,300 "likes" as of Sunday afternoon.

Fox News reached out to Costa Mesa Police Department for clarification but they did not immediately reply.

The punk rock group has teased new music in recent times, but it was done so in a mysterious manner.

A number of clips were posted by the band to Instagram. They feature what appears to be brand new music, but offer no context. The clips feature the song "1972", which is the birth year for all three members.
It was announced that Green Day, along with The Lumineers, would headline the Innings Festival, Tampa, FL on March 19.
Other acts that will be performing at the festival are Nathaniel Rateliff, the Nightsweats and the Goo Goo Dolls. Skip Marley, O.A.R. and many others.
Ryan Dempster and Ozzie Smith are just a few of the
MLB heroes who will be appearing.
