Catherine Tyldesley, a former Coronation Street actress, has revealed that she named her newborn daughter Iris.

In April, the 38-year old announced that she was expecting her second child with Tom Pitfield.

Pitfield's grandmother is the inspiration for Ella, their middle name.

Tyldesley also shared her first image of her baby girl during a family shoot with the magazine at her Cheshire home, along with her husband and seven-year old son Alfie.

She stated, "These first few week have been so precious. I have been living the best life.

"Iris will choose what she wants and find her way. For now, I am going with the pink. I'm a very girly girl."

The baby, weighing 8lb, was born at St Mary's Manchester on April 19. Tyldesley said she was 2 weeks late and had to be intubated.

Hypnobirthing and meditation music were used by the actress to describe how it was a slow process at the hospital. Then suddenly, she felt the baby arrive and she was born "within minutes".

She said, "Even though it took super-fast and was both in shock, it was still a beautiful birth."

Tyldesley stated that she is more relaxed with her second baby than with Alfie.

It can be really helpful to talk with other mothers."

During her pregnancy, the actress suffered from severe nausea and insomnia as well as hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea).

She stated, "Without sleep, you can't function."

"I wasn't socialising. Even when friends suggested a baby shower, I refused to participate. "I don't have it in me."
