Amber Heard asks Depp to leave her alone as she ends testimony

Amber Heard, who testified Thursday before jurors that Johnny Depp had harassed her and made her feel afraid for her life, said that she wants Johnny to let her be alone.

Heard was the last witness in the six week libel case Depp filed against his ex-wife. Millions of people watched the trial with cameras. Interest grew as Depp and Heard both testified about the dark details of their relationship.

Depp's supporters have dominated the story online and in person. Groupies lined up overnight to grab a spot in the courtroom and wave at Depp while he enters and exits. Heard was booed on the streets by the spectators as she entered and exited the courthouse.

Heard cried as she tried to hold back her tears. It's possible to forget that I am a human being, perhaps.

Camille Vasquez, Depp's lawyer, told Heard that his lies had been exposed to the entire world. She also questioned her about those who contradicted her accounts.

Heard replied, "I know how many people are willing to come out of their woodwork to support Johnny,"

Fairfax County Circuit Court has filed a libel suit against Heard over an op-ed that she published in December 2018. It described herself as "a public figure representative domestic abuse." Depp's lawyers claim that he was defamed in the article, even though it did not mention his name.

Heard stated that she hopes the lawsuit will enable her to regain her voice and said that she had the "right" as an American to publish an article about her experiences and how they relate with the national debate on domestic violence.

She said, "Johnny has had enough of my voice," "I have the right tell my story."

She claimed that Depp is obsessed with revenge since the day she filed for divorce and received a restraining order against his character. She referred to earlier testimony where Depp had texted Heard's disgruntled former assistant and asked her to "come along for a spot purple and we'll fix it a-- nice, good!" !"

"Johnny promised to me -- promised me -- that I would be destroyed, that my career would be destroyed." He would take my life," Heard stated.

Depp denies ever having struck Heard and claims that she was the abuser. Heard testified to more than a dozen instances of physical abuse that she claims she suffered at Depp’s hands.

Depp's final witness was Richard Gilbert, a hand surgeon who stated that he believes the injury to Depp’s middle finger may have been as Depp described it.

The couple got into a fight in Australia and the tip of the finger was cut. Depp claims that it happened when Heard threw large vodka bottles at him. Heard claims that Depp committed the crime in a drunken rage, on the same night he sexually assaulted his wife with a liquor-filled bottle.

On Friday, the closing arguments will be heard by jurors.
