The number of people killed on the roads fell sharply in April, from 55.8 per cent, a month during which the metropolitan France was confined, according to the road Safety figures released on Friday. Last month, 103 people died on the roads, was 130 less than in April 2019.

The month of march 2020, at which had been put in place for the containment, had already been marked by a dramatic decline, with 39.6 % of people killed in less. According to the ONISR, the same observation can be made on the road overseas since April, 7 people were killed, 16 less than in April 2019.

" If the road trips are substantially reduced during the confinement, the police and speed cameras have seen a significant number of major speeding, with an increase of over 16 % compared to the same period in 2019 ", notes, however, the road Safety in its press release.
