These are the cheapest hours of electricity this Friday

The average price of electricity in the wholesale market will rise this Friday by 6.39% compared to this Thursday, exceeding the level of 190 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

Specifically, the average price of electricity will be 194.35 euros/MWh this Friday, that is, 11.68 euros more expensive than the price this Thursday (182.67 euros), according to data published by the Operator of the Iberian Energy Market (OMIE) and collected by Europa Press.

Thus, the maximum price of electricity on this Friday, June 10, will be recorded between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with €0.34267/kWh, while the minimum for the day, of 168.92 euros/MWh, will be between 02:00 and 03:00.

Compared to a year ago, the average price of electricity for this Friday will be 132% more expensive than the 83.84 euros/MWh of June 10, 2021.

The prices of the 'pool' have a direct impact on the regulated rate --the so-called PVPC--, to which almost 11 million households in the country are covered, and serve as a reference for the other 17 million who have contracted their supply in the free market. In fact, the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) has verified that in 2021, in the framework of the upward spiral of energy, around 1.25 million people switched from the PVPC to a rate in the free market at a fixed price.
