Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax starts with a plus

On the German stock market, tempers calmed down somewhat on Tuesday. The Dax, which had posted its biggest daily loss since mid-December at the start of the week, rose slightly. Concerns about a possible banking crisis, which had boiled over after the collapse of the US regional bank SVB and other institutions, cooled somewhat.

Shortly after the start of trading, the leading German index rose by 0.43 percent to 15,023.41 points, making up for a small part of its three percent price loss on Monday. The MDax rose by 0.13 percent to 27,267.89 points. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 gained 0.20 percent to 4104.90 points.

The US stock exchanges had shown the way: the situation on New York's Wall Street had calmed down on Monday, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 even rose after its setback at the end of last week. However, the US financial sector, and above all the banking industry, was again hit by the wheels due to the failure of three regional banks. However, the reaction of the US government and the US Federal Reserve, to protect the customers of the banks at the expense of shareholders and creditors, "may have been the right decision for the moment," market analyst Konstantin Oldenburger from CMC Markets assessed the current situation.
