The Dax surpassed 15,600 points on Monday after a positive price development on the US stock exchanges. The leading German index gained 0.35 percent in early trading to 15,633.60 points and is thus approaching its high for the year. He had reached just under 15,660 points about a month ago.

The MDax for medium-sized stocks increased by 0.26 percent to 28,994.27 points at the beginning of the week. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 went up 0.52 percent to 4317.01 points.

Commerzbank shares, which were included in the Dax a week ago, were among the top values ​​and rose by 1.9 percent. The shares of the auto supplier and armaments group Rheinmetall, which will become a member of the leading index in two weeks, rose by 1.5 percent in the MDax. As expected, Deutsche Börse announced on Friday evening the imminent exchange of places between Rheinmetall and FMC, which also increased on Monday. The shares of the Hensoldt armaments company, which will be promoted from the SDax to the MDax, gained 1.7 percent.

Reclassifications also came into focus: The French bank Exane BNP sees no further recovery potential for the shares of the plastics manufacturer Covestro and downgraded them from "Outperform" to "Neutral". This caused a price loss of 1.1 percent, with which Covestro found itself at the end of the Dax.

HSBC, on the other hand, is now optimistic about Lufthansa's business and upgraded the airline's stock to "buy". At the top of the MDax, the paper gained 2.0 percent.

Outside of the Dax family, SFC Energy shares rose by 2.0 percent. The manufacturer of direct methanol and hydrogen fuel cells and its partner FC TecNrgy Pvt have secured a multi-million euro order from the Indian Ministry of Defence.
