Stock exchange in Frankfurt: Dax curbs loss and regains 12,000 points

After a weak September, the Dax started the new month on Monday with losses. In addition to the recent weakness of the US stock exchanges, a further deterioration in the purchasing managers' indices from industry in the euro zone also weighed on the mood - in Germany they also fell somewhat short of economists' expectations. According to equity strategist Harald Brandl from VP Bank, little improvement is in sight. He points to a tougher economic environment that is putting the high expectations for corporate profits in the third quarter to the test.

After a cautious start, the leading German index was able to contain its minus: around noon it lost 0.88 percent to 12,007.82 points. In doing so, he recaptured the last contested 12,000 point mark - in the middle of last week he had even slipped to the lowest level since November 2020. The MDax of medium-sized companies recently fell by 1.34 percent to 22,069.27 points and the leading eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 lost 1.04 percent to 3283.65 points.
