Industry: Hannover Messe is to promote climate-neutral production

The Hannover Messe, the world's most important industrial show, wants to present new solutions to challenges such as climate protection and energy supply in the coming week. "The path to climate-neutral production leads via Hanover," announced trade fair boss Jochen Köckler on Wednesday at the exhibition center. Industry has a key role to play when it comes to reducing emissions of climate-damaging greenhouse gases and developing products that consume little energy.

The Hannover Messe will officially take place from Monday April 17th to Friday April 21st. But it will open on Sunday evening. Then, among others, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the President of this year's partner country Indonesia, Joko Widodo, are expected in Hanover. The organizers are expecting more than 4000 exhibitors - including big names such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, SAP, Bosch and Nokia, but also more than 300 start-ups.

Exhibition boss Köckler described the conversion to green hydrogen as an energy source, the networking of production processes and data under the keyword Industry 4.0 and CO2-neutral production as "megatrends" in the industry. In addition, artificial intelligence can help to overcome the shortage of skilled workers, especially in Germany.

With regard to the number of visitors, Köckler was optimistic that the previous year's figure of around 75,000 participants, which was still influenced by Corona, would be significantly exceeded. The level before the pandemic, when more than 200,000 people came, will probably not be reached again.
