Setting up an office under palm trees or by the pool is probably a dream for many people: At the Tui travel group, employees can do their job anywhere in the world for up to 30 working days a year. A year after the program was introduced, almost 800 employees from 34 countries worked abroad - 10,000 working days in vacation countries were accumulated, the company announced on Thursday. The "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" had previously reported.
"The past two years have shown that virtual collaboration is efficient and also works well across national borders," said Tui HR director Sybille Reiß. "At the same time, we also see that the workplace in the office continues to play an important role." Nevertheless, the employees can work from almost anywhere temporarily - as long as the job profile allows it and the stay is coordinated with the manager.
According to Tui, the work stay abroad lasts an average of 8.5 days, so far employees in 82 countries have opened their mobile offices. According to the information, employees from Germany in particular use the program, followed by colleagues from Great Britain and Spain. The most sought-after country for German employees for work abroad is Spain with a share of 32 percent, ahead of Greece (7.33) and Italy (5.56).
