Carriers decide not to reactivate the strike and give the Government time to negotiate

The National Platform for the Defense of Transport, convener of the previous strike, has decided to grant "a vote of confidence" to the Government and enter into the negotiation of the development of the Food Chain Law for the transport of goods by road. However, the autonomous carriers warn that although the strike continues to be suspended, the possibility remains that the protests will be reactivated at any time "if the negotiation is not favorable or the situation requires it."

The votes called yesterday, Sunday, ended with a very tight result, with 45% of the truckers in favor of negotiating and maintaining the suspension of the strike, compared to 41% of them who were in favor of reactivating the stoppage of their activity from the next June 30th.

The remaining 14% favored abstention.

From now on, carriers will focus on exploiting the negotiation route to demand direct intervention from the Executive «in all circumstances of abuse with transport operators and with all entities that harm or harm road workers ».
