To date, around 1.5 million applications have been received nationwide for the 200 euro one-off payment to compensate for inflation for students and technical school students. Almost 1.4 million of these were paid out by Friday morning, according to data from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Around 280 million euros were thus paid out. Applications have been possible nationwide since last Wednesday - the money can be applied for until September 30th. It takes two working days from approval to payment, said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Science in Hanover today.

The way to the energy price flat rate

The more than 3.5 million students and technical students can apply for the energy price flat rate online. This is possible on the application platform "Einmalpayment200.de". The money is intended to relieve the sharp rise in energy and food prices.

Anyone who was enrolled at a university in Germany or registered at a training center in Germany by December 1st can apply for the money. According to the Federal Ministry, Bafög recipients must also apply for the one-off payment, which should generally not be taxed. Those who work alongside their studies should also receive the 200 euros.

The traffic light coalition agreed on the special payment in September. However, the implementation was difficult, also because the account data of all affected students and technical students were not available centrally.
