Airport: Report: Traffic light does not want a new government terminal at BER

According to a media report, the federal government is not planning to build a new government terminal at Berlin Airport BER. Instead, Chancellor and Minister want to use the transitional building permanently, as reported by "Bild am Sonntag", citing government circles.

The temporary building was opened in October 2020. Members of the government start their journeys from there. The cost of constructing the building was around 70 million euros. According to previous estimates, the new government terminal would have cost many times that amount.

In the past, the FDP had called for the construction of the representative government terminal to be abandoned. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner described this as a signal that the government was handling taxpayers' money with care.
