Thanks notably to the support measures of the government, the automotive market in French is on the rise again in June, and shows an increase of 1.2 % year on year, according to figures published by the Committee of French manufacturers of automobiles (CCFA) Wednesday the 1st of July. 233 818 new vehicles have been put in circulation during June. In detail, the deliveries of Renault (with Dacia and Alpine) grew by 6.5 %, while those in the PSA group (Peugeot, Citroën, DS, and Opel) continue their nosedive, to -9,1 %.
The auto trade, which had been shut down during the confinement from 17 march to 11 may, had collapsed in the spring : the fall of the registrations of new passenger cars by 72% in march, from 88.8% in April, then again from 50.3% in may. The déconfinement logically marked a slight improvement, strengthened by the support plan to the automotive, announced in late may by the president and Emmanuel Macron.

The market has been boosted by the strengthening of the bonus ecological electric vehicles, as well as by the new scrapping premium that subsidizes the purchase of cars (new or used) in exchange for the scrapping of an old car. However, the month of June there were two working days more than in June 2019. Adjusted for this calendar effect, the market remains slightly down year on year. Year-to-date in the first half, the automotive market in French opens in the fall of 38.6% to 715 802 new cars.
