This is one more step of the government in the direction of personal in-hospital paramedics. The government proposed on Tuesday in the framework of the "Ségur health" to increase the envelope of eur 1.1 billion, amounting to 7.5 billion euros the total sum to be provided for remuneration. I have announced a package of eur 7.5 billion, and insisted that issues of employment should also be included in the negotiation", wrote Jean Castex on Twitter.

The Prime minister made the announcement during a new meeting with the unions of the public hospital service, on Tuesday evening, the ministry of Health. His presence at the last bargaining session was not scheduled. According to the entourage of Jean Castex, "the Prime minister has shown his commitment" to the caregivers by coming to participate in this meeting. The Prime minister has also prompted "a new element", namely the fact that "this negotiation must cover not only the question of wages, but should extend to the question of the employment", a-t-on pointed out.

The prolonged discussions
The government had initially announced a sum of six billion euros in the framework of the Segur of health" to improve the salaries of other staff (carers, nurses,...) and non-medical (hospital workers). In the Face of criticism of the trade unions, a first extension of 400 million euros, however, had been proposed, without addressing the trade-union organizations, demanding a salary increase of 300 euros net for all the personnel. This global envelope is not about the hospital doctors and the interns or medical students, who are the subject of specific negotiation. For the latter, the government has promised at this stage a budget of 600 million euros.

The negotiations in the framework of the "Ségur health", launched on may 25 by former Prime minister Edouard Philippe, had in principle come to an end last Friday. But the discussions have been prolonged, because of the redesign and lack of agreement with the trade unions. Jean Castex was reported in the press on Sunday that he "will conclude(t)" itself the work in the week. When the health crisis, Emmanuel Macron promised measures for both the hospital and the caregivers before mid-July.
