Kristian and his son William missed the plane: Must have christmas alone in Lisbon

Kristian Lysdahl did not believe his own ears when he got the message from the flight crew, flying into Lisbon Airport on the evening of Monday 23. december.

"We are sorry that you have missed your flight, but we can only offer you a new departure on 25. december at nine o'clock in the morning," it said.

But when the plan was to spend christmas eve with the rest of the family on the Portuguese island of Madeira, so is it to say the least, a miserable offer to be able to get out on the island the day after the big day.

however, It is nevertheless the reality of the father and the son right now.

on Monday morning, they went away from Denmark against Frankfurt and should have a flight on to Lisbon, where they would have the last flight on to Funchal in Madeira.

The first flight to the German city went fine, but in Frankfurt was the flight to Lisbon is delayed for two hours, and when they were in the air, they were suddenly told that due to fog, landed in the Portuguese city of Faro.

Here keep the a couple of hours, and only five hours later than planned hitting the runway in Lisbon at approximately 21.00.

Their aircraft on to Funchal in Madeira are long relieved, then Kristian, it's about to get the airline to find a departure later on the evening of the 23. december or early the 24. december, so that they can reach juleaftenen with parents and grandparents on the island.

But soon he finds out that it should prove to be very problematic.

"It's pure chaos in there at the airport, and I should really be active in order to find out who we must seek out," says the 53-year-old Kristian Lysdahl in a telephone line from Portugal.

And when they have waited a small space of time, comes the terrible message.

"They tell us that we can only get a departure on 25. december at seven o'clock or nine in the morning. But the pigeons are not one. So I will be enormously angry and asks whether they are not obliged to help me more than that. But no," says Kristian.

Kristian try to squeeze them, but it goes quickly up to him, to the airline, Portuguese TAP, most of all think about what is cheapest for them.

Therefore he gets the and son two vouchers of 100 euros each for the two nights ' hotel accommodation, as they must cope in Lisbon.

And one of them is on the christmas eve. A somewhat different christmas, as father and son, however, must try to get the best out of.

"I think it is a violent practice, but I'm almost more annoyed with the lack of helpfulness. And then we must of course try to get the best out of it and have seen Lisbon," he says.

A second pair by the side of Kristian and his son William were also to Madeira, and they were so disappointed in the news that they chose of the to fly home to Denmark with the same.

But Kristian and William must also keep in the new year on Madeira, so that they do not intend to turn its nose toward home. Mind you also, because they both have been looking forward immensely much. Especially William.

"I was so angry about the message in the airport, for I had really been looking forward. I have even chosen to pay for my plane ticket in years, so it was a big thing for me. And so is everything here - it's damn tough," says 15-year-old William.

B. T. has unsuccessfully tried to get a comment from the TAP.
