The euphoria was short lived for the owners of nightclubs, dance halls, night clubs and other evening entertainment, which had reopened in Geneva and throughout Switzerland. Their schools are again closed since Friday, and up until the 23 August at least. Reason ? The canton of Geneva, which is only 500 000 inhabitants, registers one third of new infections across the whole of Switzerland (eight million inhabitants). The percentage of positive tests has soared from 2% to 9%. And most importantly, a good part of the contamination takes place in night clubs.
"We're going back again in a critical situation," said Antonio Hodgers, the president of the State Council (government) of Geneva. While until now, the measures taken since the beginning of the containment were significantly less strict than in France.
