Albaerte running 100 % vegan christmas this year: 'One thing I come to miss the'

But this year it's over. Albaerte Christensen, her siblings, father and mother have made a choice. A 'drastic' options.

They have dropped the meat. They have been vegans. Thus, as in 100 %.

the Decision made a month ago, after they had seen the documentary 'The Game Changers', as bl.a. describes the physiological benefits for athletes, that live of plant-based food.

"the Film focuses at the same time, on what meat does to your body, your blood and your immune system. I could just feel that if I ignore it here, I will shoot myself in the foot," says 23-year-old Albaerte Christensen.

Especially hard for father

Albaertes little brother has been a vegetarian for a year, and it was him who got the rest of the family to see the documentary, which than had not reached the end credits, before they had made their choice: connect with meat.

"My father had a little hard time to let go of the flesh in the beginning, so he has been researching a part on it to be sure. But so far, I think, that it has been easy enough," sounds optimistic from Albaerte.

Decembers took, however, has drawn some heavy, dark clouds over the young woman's otherwise positive mind.

Suddenly it dawned on her that life as a vegan in no way allow her to enjoy the beloved, traditional christmas food with the crispy duck, potatoes and brown gravy.

"It will be really hard for me to do without julemaden. It is probably the one thing I am really going to miss. The taste is just nice," she says, and reveals, at the same time, as she secretly practised a cunning juleplan, which is far from true to 'the strict vegan food-tender'.

"I was thinking, in fact, that I had to eat vegan until christmas eve, and then I would start all over again the 25. Simply because I felt that I could do without julemaden."

But how to get it not. Albaertes idea of being meat-unfaithful 24. december she has turned out of the head again, and she is now committed to run a 100 % vegan christmas.

"I can feel that I don't want to poison my body. And it feels really good. Julemaden are yet so bold. One is the typically just and evil, and of himself afterwards," she says and laughs.

What should be on the menu instead of the classic julesul, the family has Christensen has not yet decided.

Right now is Albaertes sister and mother in the middle of researching forward to the best vegan christmas.

In the meantime – since Albaerte 'converted' a month ago – it has gone up for her, that the food on christmas eve does not mean everything.

"There's a lot of tradition associated with julemaden, and because you've always eaten the same, keeps you stuck in it," she says and continues:

"But I have found out that the diet is subordinate. It's damn together, that really means something. And this year is the first time we all together is gathered in three years. I am looking forward the most to," says Albaerte, before she interrupts herself:

"And so I am, of course, to the potatoes and brown gravy. We NEED to have. Made vegan of course, so we have to find out. It is a must for us."
