Zarzuela announces the return to Spain of Don Juan Carlos tomorrow after 21 months in Abu Dhabi

The House of His Majesty the King has issued a statement at 9:06 p.m. informing of the visit this Thursday of Don Juan Carlos to Spain after 21 months of residence in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

In this way, the Palacio de la Zarzuela informs that Don Felipe will meet his father in Madrid next Monday after his stay in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra), as they were last Sunday after having a telephone conversation from Abu Dhabi, where Don Felipe went to convey his condolences for the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

This is what the statement says:

“His Majesty the King Don Juan Carlos has transferred this afternoon to the House of His Majesty the King his wish that he make public his decision to travel to Spain from tomorrow the 19th until next Monday the 23rd of May.

Don Juan Carlos plans to stay during those dates in the Galician town of Sanxenxo, and on Monday 23 to travel to Madrid, to be with His Majesty the King, with Her Majesty Queen Sofía and other members of his family at the Palace of La Operetta. That same day, His Majesty King Juan Carlos will undertake a return trip to Abu Dhabi, where he has established his permanent and stable residence.

This visit is part of the desire of His Majesty King Juan Carlos to travel frequently to Spain to visit family and friends, and organize his personal life and his place of residence in areas of a private nature, as expressed in the letter addressed to His Majesty the King on March 5".

As has been reported, Don Juan Carlos will visit Sanxenxo (Pontevedra) to participate in a regatta of the class he has become fond of in recent years, the 6mR, which allows him to sail despite his movement limitations.

Don Juan Carlos, 84 years old, will hold a meeting with friends at the Sanxenxo Yacht Club, with whose president, Pedro Campos, he has a great friendship. Don Juan Carlos plans to stay in Campos' home, who reported this Wednesday that he could arrive in Galicia "on Thursday or even on Friday morning." The King's father will be accompanied by the Infanta Elena.

Precisely, residing in a private residence was one of the statements that Don Juan Carlos set out in the letter he sent to Zarzuela on March 5: "Both during my visits and if I return to reside in Spain in the future, it is my purpose organize my personal life and my place of residence in areas of a private nature to continue enjoying the greatest possible privacy».

At the yacht club they expect Don Juan Carlos to arrive just in time for the registration of participants in the competition and the meeting of the skippers of the boats that will participate in the regatta, which will start around 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

That letter, revealed in a statement, was sent by Don Juan Carlos after learning that the Prosecutor's Office filed the entire open investigation.

The chief prosecutor for Anticorruption, Alejandro Luzón, signed three decrees without filing a complaint or directing any criminal charges against him, either for "insufficiency of incriminating evidence," for "prescription of the crime," for "the inviolability of the Head of State" or for being valid the fiscal regularization undertaken.

The three cases filed by the Prosecutor's Office were related to the award of the AVE to Mecca, on the transfers made between 2016 and 2019 by the Mexican businessman Allen de Jesús Sanginés Krause or the expenses paid through the Zagatka Foundation.
