A 40-year-old passenger was attacked and injured in a group of 16 young people on a train just before Wuppertal. Several young people first tried to spit on the man and then hit him in the face, the federal police reported on Friday. When the Regionalexpress 4 stopped at Wuppertal Central Station, the group fled the train.

Federal police officers were able to pick up three young people. One of them, a 14-year-old, was identified by the victim. An ambulance took the 40-year-old to a hospital with a head injury. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 14-year-old for dangerous bodily harm.
