RTVE has offered Spain to host the celebration of Eurovision 2023 instead of the winner of the edition held tonight, Ukraine, mired in a war due to the Russian invasion although its president, Volodímir Zelenski, assured today that his country will host the festival .

"What has been offered is that, in the event that Ukraine could not host it, we offer ourselves as the headquarters, but the first objective is to help them in everything they need," said the director of Communication of the public corporation, María Eizaguirre .

The news, communicated after the conclusion of the grand finale that took place at the Olympic Palace in Turin (Italy), comes after several cities such as Barcelona or Las Palmas de Gran Canaria offered to host the festival in the days before next year due to the good forecasts for the national candidate, Chanel.

Thanks to him, Spain was finally third, just 7 points behind the United Kingdom, which was second.

Eizaguire has insisted that the decision to offer to host has been made "in the last few hours." In this regard, RTVE denied this week that, as El Confidencial had published, a proposal had been prepared after an initial contact with the Ukrainian government.

The president of this country, Volodimir Zelensky, has gone to his social networks tonight to ensure that in 2023 Eurovision will take place in his country.

"Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe! Next year Ukraine will host the Eurovision for the third time in its history. And I think it will not be the last. We will do everything so that one day the participants and guests of the festival will be held in the Ukrainian Mariupol," he wrote.
