Because of the smell of gas in a residential area, the fire brigade evacuated 30 people in the Wetteraukreis on Saturday morning. Previously, residents in Karben-Petterweil had reported a smell of gas, which was spreading in their residential area, the police said. The called fire department was able to confirm the smell of gas on site. The 30 people were then taken from their homes. The exit point was then located. The smell came from a vehicle and was not dangerous. After the fire brigade gave the all-clear, residents were able to return to their homes. Special vehicles from Bad Vilbel, Friedberg and Bad Nauheim were also involved in the operation.
