Weimar: Wieland Museum shows new permanent exhibition in Oßmannstedt

The newly designed museum about the writer Christoph Martin Wieland (1733-1813) has been open to visitors again since Saturday in Oßmannstedt near Weimar. The new permanent exhibition takes a look at Wieland in the historical living quarters of his estate building as a novelist, as a political journalist, as a chronicler of the French Revolution and as a translator, as the Klassik Stiftung Weimar announced. The reason for the redesign, which was celebrated with a party, was the 250th anniversary of the writer's arrival in Weimar.

Wieland was one of the most important writers of the Enlightenment. Along with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) and Johann Gottfried Herder (1744-1803), he belonged to the four stars of Weimar Classicism.
