During an overtaking maneuver, the car of a 35-year-old collided head-on with oncoming traffic near Weimar and rolled over. The accident on Saturday evening resulted in property damage of around 35,000 euros, as the police announced on Sunday. The 35-year-old and the driver of the oncoming car suffered minor injuries. According to the information, the man started an attempt to overtake on a country road between the Weimar districts of Gelmeroda and Legefeld. The 35-year-old's vehicle came to rest in a ditch after the collision.

The highway was closed for about three hours. A preliminary investigation was initiated against the man on suspicion of endangering road traffic.
