Weather: After a short onset of winter, it's getting milder again

After the flying visit of the winter, it should be milder again in large parts of Germany in the new week. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicted on Monday that maximum values of 5 to 12 degrees could be expected.

It is only colder in the northeast and east of the republic. The DWD meteorologists expect maximum temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees there.

Snowfall can therefore be expected in Thuringia and Saxony at the beginning of the week. Further south, snow can only be found at high altitudes, otherwise rain is expected. From the west it loosens up more and more. Rainfall is expected to ease nationwide in the second half of the day on Monday.

According to the DWD forecast, many clouds and rain are to be expected on Tuesday. It will also be a little milder in the east and north-east of Germany. In the Bavarian Alps, there could be heavy snowfall above around 1000 meters into Wednesday.

In the other regions, Wednesday is expected to start mostly dry. "Apart from the northeast, it is often too mild for the time of year with widespread 7 to 11 degrees," said DWD meteorologist Sebastian Altnau.
