Water polo: Spandau 04 lost in Marseille

The Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 lost their last game this year. On matchday 4 of the Champions League main round, CN Marseille drew 7:14 (1:2, 1:2, 3:5, 2:5). After a balanced first half, the French champion clearly prevailed on Wednesday, mainly thanks to his effective use of the majority game after a Spandau water transfer. Spandau conceded eight goals when outnumbered.

The goals for the water friends were scored by Dmitri Kholod (3), Maurice Jüngling (2), Denis Strelezkij and Marek Tkac (1 each). For Marseille, Ugo Crousillat (3) was the most successful.

The next competitive game in Spandau is scheduled for January 7, 2023 with the start of the second half of the Bundesliga season against SV Ludwigsburg in the Schöneberg indoor swimming pool.

In the Champions League, Marseille improved their score to four points, while Spandau slipped down to seventh (two points) in the eighth ranking. Leader of the standings is VK Novi Beograd (10) ahead of AN Brescia (9), followed by FTC Budapest, Jug Dubrovnik, OSC Budapest and CN Marseille.

The French showed a lot of respect for the Berliners at first, but then Spandau lost weight and were hardly able to assert themselves, especially offensively. There was also no longer any sign of the recently praised variability in the squad.
