Walldürn/Odenwald: Man is said to have held and raped woman for days – police see serial offenders at work

In Walldürn in the Odenwald, an alleged serial offender is said to have held and raped at least one young woman for several days with the help of his brother. The 37-year-old is suspected of holding the 26-year-old against her will between October 15 and 19 and of having violated her, the Mosbach public prosecutor said. The man's 23-year-old brother is said to have helped him.

The victim finally managed to use a phone from the property to call an acquaintance who alerted the police via the emergency call, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office. The young woman is said to have told her acquaintance that she was being held against her will and feared for her life.

According to police investigations, the fate of the woman in the Neckar-Odenwald district is not an isolated case: "In the meantime, other victims have been identified," said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office. Investigators are currently assuming at least two other suspected victims. It should be about women. Investigators are currently investigating to what extent there are other victims.

The suspicion of other alleged victims arose from the search of the crime scene and the further investigations. According to the public prosecutor's office, at least one of the two German suspects is said to have lived in the property in Walldürn. The suspects had partially commented on the matter, said the spokesman.

The 37-year-old man is accused of taking hostages in combination with particularly serious rape and dangerous bodily harm. He was taken to a psychiatric hospital with a placement arrest warrant. This indicates that the man may be mentally ill or had reduced criminal responsibility at the time of the crime. The investigators initially did not provide any further information on request. The man's 23-year-old brother is said to have helped with the alleged crimes. He was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory and taken to a correctional facility.
